Celebrating The Women Who Inspire Us
As a small (but mighty!) team of women in digital marketing, we couldn’t let International Women’s Day pass without celebrating some of the incredible women who have shaped, inspired, and motivated us along the way.
From disrupting industries to challenging the status quo, these women have led with innovation, resilience, and a fearless drive to create change—and we’re here for it!
Melanie Perkins - Co-Founder & CEO of Canva
As daily users of Canva, we’re in constant awe of what Melanie created aged just 26. Through her vision, resilience, and determination, Canva has become a true disruptor in digital design — empowering millions worldwide.
Despite early setbacks, she took on Silicon Valley, becoming one of the youngest female tech unicorn founders. Today, Canva is worth $32B+ with 180M+ users - and she’s pledging 80% of her stake to charity.
Anne Boden - Founder of Starling Bank
Anne had the boldness to leave a successful finance career to reinvent banking — launching the UK’s first mobile-only, customer-centric bank. She broke stereotypes and disrupted a traditionally male-dominated industry with a focus on transparency, efficiency, and customer-first thinking.
Starling Bank has since won Best British Bank three years running —proof that innovation and courage pay off! As Spybey Digital’s chosen business bank, we can totally see why.
Tova Leigh - Author, Performer & Female Champion
A must-follow on LinkedIn and Instagram, Tova isn’t afraid to challenge the norm. Whether she’s calling out double standards, tackling taboo topics, or championing female empowerment, she uses her platform to start important conversations.
Her raw, authentic, and fearless approach is a breath of fresh air, proving that genuine engagement and meaningful discussions matter more than just numbers.
Joeli Brearley - Former Founder of Pregnant Then Screwed
Joeli took a personal experience of discrimination and transformed it into a nationwide movement. As the former founder of Pregnant Then Screwed, she’s been instrumental in advocating for parental rights, flexible working, and tackling workplace discrimination against mothers.
Her relentless campaigning and policy - shaping efforts have helped drive change in the UK’s employment laws. She’s living proof that one voice can absolutely spark a revolution and drive much needed change!
Dame Sharon White - Former Chair of John Lewis Partnership
Taking the helm of one of the UK’s most iconic retailers without a traditional retail background? Bold. Leading it through one of the toughest periods in high street history as the first woman to chair John Lewis? Even bolder.
After nearly five years in the role, her time saw major transformations in a difficult retail landscape. From driving sustainability initiatives to rethinking the high street experience, she wasn’t afraid to make bold decisions which we love!
